Education business Links

Education Business Links

Every company, from whatever sector, has the potential to help young people.
Do you want your organisation to make a positive impact and contribution to the
community and to introduce young people to the challenges of the world of work?
Education Business Partnerships aim to develop links between schools, pupils and employers. Young
people of all ages learn best by direct experiences and respond very positively to ‘real people’ from the
business world. Business/education activities are not possible without strong employer support.

For your company the benefits are wide ranging, including:
  •  Making a visible contribution to the local community
  • Developing links with local schools and colleges
  • Identifying potential future employees

As an employer you get involved in many ways by offering:
  • Work Experience – This is a key activity in helping young people understand and develop the skills and qualities required by employers. Thousands of young people in our area are placed with employers for short or long periods of work experience each year.
  • Mock Interviews – Interview practice with an employer can be a great boost to a young person’s confidence.
  • Developing or enhancing curriculum activities and resources – Businesses can often provide rich sources of material to support classroom teaching and help in many other ways.
  • Acting as a mentor for a student – In school a mentor can contribute to the progress made by any young person in developing skills, be they academic, social or personal.
  • Setting and judging enterprise and business challenges - Students are greatly motivated by working on real business problems, which encourage team work, presentation skills and contributes towards their understanding of enterprise.
  • Hosting visits to the workplace – These can be linked to career planning or specific courses of study.
