I started in 1988 attending craft fairs in the Cardiff area where I sold the brightly coloured pots and vases that I had created. An interest in the human form led to my production of rolled pottery figures. These figures were made to the customer’s specification for the many commissions I did.

 

My work in schools began in 1997 when I was asked to work in various schools with small groups of children to produce ceramics for a display in the Rhondda Heritage Park. This led to further work throughout the four Local Education Authorities.- Caerphilly, Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr also INSET training days.I have been involved in lottery funded projects in schools and work one afternoon a week in Maes-y-Coed Primary school with all children from nursery up to year six. I work in conjunction with the curriculum wherever possible.

In September 2004 I decided to expand my business to full time.

 

Working with clay is an excellent way for children to express themselves. It can help develop creativity and imagination as well as manipulative skills. Each child regardless of ability gains immense pleasure and satisfaction from the creative process and excitement from seeing their work transformed by the firing and glazing process.
