Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy literally means, ‘aroma’ being the fragrances of essential oils, and ‘therapy’ being the way in which the fragrance is applied to relieve physical symptoms and promote mental well-being.

The oils can be used simply for their fragrance and its effects on mood and emotion, but in professional practice their physiological effect is central. This is generally obtained through the oils being used in massage treatment. This approach is notably beneficial for the treatment of stress-related disorders and requires a substantial degree of training, both in acquiring massage techniques and in understanding the many and varied properties of the essential oils that may be used.

In professional medical practice, it is the substances or oils themselves and their bio-chemical effects that are central. I find the pharmacology of essential oils a fascinating subject, and I am qualified to make a personal formula that is unique to each client so it will truly benefit the client in a holistic way.

I am also able to make personal and unique bath and shower gels so that the client will benefit from the selected essential oils at home. These personal and unique formulas cannot be bought on the High Street.

Seated Accupressure Massage

Chair massage is fast becoming the most popular form of professional touch on the contemporary bodywork landscape

In offices, corporate board rooms, airports, shopping malls, convention centres and hospitals, you can now experience the benefits of an on-site massage and feel completely ‘D-Stressed’.

This is a specific 15, 20 or 30 minute sequence which is applied to a fully clothed person who is seated on a special ergonomically designed chair.

In theory it is based on accupressure and trigger points.

The parts of the body that are worked on are: the head, neck, shoulders, arms, back and hands to help ease tension.

Several companies do this in-house therapy as it enhances employees performance and reduces time spent off sick because of stress.

Companies have a ‘Duty of Care’ to look after the physical and emotional well-being of their employees, and a stress free workforce is a far more productive workforce.

Hopi Ear Candling

Ear Candling has become increasingly popular in the last twenty years, although it has been practised for hundreds if not thousands of years. The oldest recorded use of the Ear Candles is by the Hopi Pueblo tribe of Native American Indians who live in the Colorado River area of the USA.

The word ’Hopi’ means peaceful, and this epitomises their way of life. The magic of fire has fascinated people from the very beginning of time. Ancient rock paintings can be traced far back into history showing their use within the tribe in initiation and healing ceremonies.

Ear Candles have a purely physical function. A light suction action (chimney effect) and the movement of the flame creates a vibration of air in the candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum. This induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses.

Hopi Ear Candling can help people suffering from earache, headaches, migraines, snoring, dizziness, colds, ear noise, stress and nervousness. Treatment may also spontaneously cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, even when the nose was blocked before treatment.

I am pleased to say that I use a German company called BIOSUN, who produce hand made Ear Candles using the traditional recipe and only the finest regularly tested ingredients. Another reason that I trust BIOSUN candles, is that they have a filter and are completely safe to use by a trained therapist.

Please be warned there are many shops/companies that sell inferior pointed ended candles without filters for home use.

This is very dangerous! - you must use a trained therapist.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage has been practised in other parts of the world for over 2000 years, it now taking the UK by storm!

It is a wonderful deep massage technique, which is becoming increasingly popular due to its amazing beneficial effects.

Special basalt volcanic stones are heated in a special heater. The stones are kept at a safe effective temperature, and this therapy works on three levels. During the treatment the client is engulfed in warmth and comfort, allowing the therapist to work deeper with no extra effort. The energies from the stones promote a meditative and calm state helping to relax the client. This also helps with the healing effects long after the treatment has ended. It is said that one stroke with a stone is worth ten strokes by a hand.

The combination of techniques used:

 - Aids the circulatory, muscular and nervous systems.

 - Reduces stress and can induce a feeling of euphoria.

 - Frees knots of muscular tension and relaxes connective tissue.

 - Aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products.

 - Stimulates the skin and underlying nerve endings
