Blaenllechau Youth Project offers social activities and projects for children and young people, between the ages of 5 and 25 years.  the timetable at the moment looks like this:

Monday - Senior Drop-In - 6pm-9pm

Tuesday - Dance workshops - 6pm-8.15pm

Wednesday - Singing workshops - 6pm-9pm

Thursday - Junior Drop-In - 4pm-5.30pm

Thursday - Senior Drop-In - 6pm-9pm

We had a busy summer in Blaenllechau this year with 67 children and young people taking part in projects and activities.  Six young people joined the RCT's Community Arts Performing Art for Kids project at the Parc and Dare Theatre, then performed with other young people from all over RCT at The Muni in Pontypridd.  The theme for the week was self image and the girls had a great time and are looking forward to similar projects in the future.

 

During Playscheme we had themed weeks of dinosaurs, arts and crafts and sports. 

We once again hosted an international workcamp this year.  This is our fifth workcmap and we have enjoyed hosting the volunteers, they were:

Over the two weeks they taught us about their own cultures and what the children do in their countries for fun.  They also taught us games as well as leaning some from us.  We would like to thank them for all their hard work and wish them well in what ever they decide to do in the future. 

Twelve young people from Blaenllechau and surrounding area took part in two days of workshops with The Urban Movement of Wales. The workshops were at the request of the young people and funded through RCT's Summer Programme.  They spent a day working on the lyrics and the second recording their song.  The young people then had a copy to take home.  The rap was based around school and Blaenllechau Youth Drop-In

As part of Blaenllechau Playscheme we went on a trip to Dan Yr Ogof Showcaves.  The theme for the first week of summer playscheme was dinosaurs, we made volcanoes, a giant papier mache dinosaur head as well as made clay dinosaur models.  We then visited Dan Yr Ogof to take a walk around the caves and see the ferocious dinosaurs.
