Green Street Church exists to help peolpe to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care. We are seeking to disover what it means to follow Jesus and to share God's love with everyone.

A warm welcome awaits any child of any age in the Junior Church at Green Street, Aberdare.
There are three leaders who work on a rotational monthly basis to take the Junior Church, which is held in the schoolroom of the chapel during the morning service after the children have assisted with the collection from the congregation. (We believe that all children should be gently encouraged from an early age to take part whenever possible) This has proved itself as we see for ourselves how an initially shy child has grown in confidence.
Whilst in the Junior Church, the children learn of the well-known stories in the Bible, to some not so well known, and this is usually aided by a time of "colouring" and display work. They have their own space on the notice board and from time to time their latest work is displayed for all to see. At the end of the morning service, in their own words, they then tell and show the congregation what they have learned and been doing that morning.
Once a year the Junior Church take their own service in the morning when all the children take part, end their talents range from reciting, singing, Bible readings and playing musical instruments. We are fortunate in that several of the children are learing to play the piano, recorder, violin, etc. One Christmas we even had a ballet performance! We now have a couple of teenagers who are especially talented musically and have gone on to participate in various concerts. On Mother's Day the service was taken by the Junior Church and their leaders, and proved very successful as always. Every Christmas the Junior Church take over the service and this event is looked forward to with eager anticipation by both children and the congregation.
In addition we have creche facilities with a number of toys available to keep the youger children happy whilst their parents enjoy the service. There are always two adults to supervise the children and any visitors with young children are encouraged to use the creche if they so wish.
We, in Green Street, believe that children who receive the basics of Bible teaching and who grow up loving Jesus will, hopefully, grow into loving, caring adults who will, in turn, in years to follow, bring their own children back into the Junior Church.
