Porth Carnival Day
The church was beautifully decorated with flowers - arranged by George & Marion Sparrow, Jean Warren and Rebecca Winter - to whom we are deeply grateful. Just a selection of the arrangements are pictured below.
Refreshments were served in the vestry and a steady flow of visitors enjoyed the home-made fare and Fairtrade drinks all day.
Social activities and events
The church offers a regular programme of social activities and events. All these events are open to all, whether or not you are a member of the church. There is a charge for admittance to some events.
We will use this page to show a selection of pictures from recent events.
Strawberry Tea June 2008
We raised over £210 for Breast Cancer Care at our annual Strawberry Tea during Wimbledon fortnight. About 30 bowls of strawberries and cream, and scones and jam, were served in the church vestry, and a dozen more were sent out to local businesses and housebound members. Thanks to everyone for their support.
Church outing to Tredegar House, 2nd July 2008
30 members and friends of Porth and Castle Square churches and Porth OAP Association enjoyed a fascinating outing to Tredegar House, Newport, with an excellent lunch in the Brewhouse cafe and a guided tour of the historic house.
Nativity Service 16th December 2007
The 1st Porth (URC) Brownies & Guides presented a wonderful Nativity service to start our Christmas celebrations. Many of the 140 adults and children in the congregation stayed for coffee and mince pies after the service.
Church dinner 11th October 2007
39 members and friends of the church attended a very successful and enjoyable church dinner at the Llwyncelyn Hotel, Porth. Our thanks to Anthony and his team at the Llwyncelyn for the lovely meal and friendly service.
Here are pictures of some of the guests and some of the cooks at the Welsh Night held in the church hall in March 2007.
On Porth Carnival Day, 14th July 2007, the church was open for quiet space and refreshments were served.
Here are George and Marion Sparrow arranging the flowers for the day, and some of the food ready to be eaten.
The vestry was full of guests at lunchtime, but some of the cooks found time to watch the Carnival parade.
