Waun Wen Community Centre is home to a number of groups including the Waun Wen Parents & Toddlers group and the Young at Hearts Group.

Waun Wen Young at Hearts Group

The Young at Heats group consist of 12 members aged 50+. They meet twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. They enjoy the chance to talk with each other as many of the group live in their own.
 
On Tuesday they mostly try they’re had at various crafts such as glass and silk printing, making greeting cards etc
 
On Thursday they sometimes welcome guest speakers in to talk about various subjects such as Food, Hygiene, History and Beauty and are currently in the process of writing a history book about Trebanog
 
The group enjoy a good sing song and enjoy regular trips to locations such as St Fagan’s, Western-Super-Mare and Barry Island.
 
The group apply for the funding for these trips themselves, the money helps pay for entry fees and bus hire and is also used for events that they host at the centre.

Waun Wen Parent & Toddlers Group

Parent and Toddler
 
The Parent and Toddlers Group is held at the Waun Wen Community Centre three mornings a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 10:00 until 12:00.
 
The pre school years in a child’s life are very important for their development skills. Parents show great enthusiasm in supporting their child in early learning skills using creative play as learning.
 
Guest speakers come along regularly and give advice on early learning skills, healthy eating , toys and books and parents are welcome to enrol on various courses such as First Aid parental Skills.
 
The Parent and Toddler Group essentially gives parents the chance to meet up for a cuppa and have a chat. It helps them to continue to socialise and share experiences, help and advice with other parents.
