ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is an impairment that affects children's activity and attention control.
 
The group meets twice a month at Barnardos Family Centre, Llwynypia and Llanharan Drop-in Centre. There are no meetings in the school holidays.

ASD Parent Support Group
 
Parent support groups are running in Abercynon and Tylorstown, which are open to parents of children who have autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, specal educational needs or challenging behaviour (children do not have to be diagnosed or have statements of special educational need).
 
The groups are run by Peter Ford, On Track's Special Education Teacher. The groups provide information to those attending, and are informal and open access.
 
The Tylorstown group runs monthly at Tylorstown On Track Centre, Ashfield House, East Road, Tylorstown.
 
The Abercynon group runs monthly at the Abercynon Community Education Centre at Old Clock School, Ynysmeurig Road, Abercynon.

Asperger Syndrome Support Group - Rhondda Cynon Taf

 
Support group for parents and carers of children of any age with Asperger Syndrome. New members are welcome. The group meet on the third Monday of the month at Dewi Sant Hospital, Pontypridd at 7.30pm.
 
The children also meet as a group during school holidays.

Autism and Asperger Support Association - Cynon Valley

 Meetings are held monthly (apart from August)

They organise leisure and sports activities for children with autistic spectrum disorders, such as bowls, swimming, horse riding, quad biking, archery. The association also provide support to parents and carers.

Every parent wants their child to reach their full potential and this Network aims to represent the collective views of parents and carers from within the community and contribute to positive, fundamental changes in the service provision for children. The group meets at various venues throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Parent Support Team

 

A support group for parents/carers of disabled and SEN children, which is run by parents of disabled children.

 

Meets on the first wednesday of every month from 6pm until 8pm at the Miskin Christian Centre, Penrhiwceiber Road, Miskin, Mountain Ash.

 

The group offer a free bus service and a free creche run by qualified staff who are trained in working with disabled children.
