Rhondda Cynon Taf Leisure Services have developed a physical activity group for children aged between 4 and 11 years old.

The group is aimed at children who have delayed gross motor skill development and/or have low physical confidence. This may include children with a formal diagnosis of dyspraxia or high functioning autism, but also includes children with delayed skill development, relative to their age.

The group will be lead by a qualified instructor, who will organise a range of group and individual activities, designed to focus on muscle strengthening, balance and co-ordination skills. All the activities can be adapted to suit the particular abilities of the individual child, and will take place in a relaxed, fun, and non-competitive environment. Individual achievement and progression will be recognised and rewarded.

Focus on VITALISE

Who are Vitalise?

Vitalise are a charity who provide short breaks and holidays for disabled people and their carers.

What barriers do disabled people & their families face when planning holidays?

These include:

  • The availability of specially adapted transport and genuinely accessible accommodation

  • Expensive travel insurance

  • If going to the beach some wheelchairs don’t move on sand

How does Vitalise work to overcome these barriers?

Vitalise provide the specialist equipment that you require and have trained support staff to provide care 24 hours a day, allowing family members and carers to have a break from their caring role so that they can relax and fully enjoy the holiday activities with the disabled person.

What destinations & activities are on offer?

Self-catering lodge family holidays at Churchtown in Cornwall are open to families with children from age 6.

Vitalise also offer holidays and adventure breaks for disabled people aged over 18 at five special UK bases, and independent vacations for disabled people in accessible hotels in Germany and Spain.

What support is included?

Is it expensive?
