About Taff Ely Access Group

Taff Ely Access Group was established in 1994, it is a voluntary group consisting of disabled people, its mission being to identify and seek the removal of barriers which prevent the disabled community from full access to that available to the public.

The Taff Ely Access Group is consulted for advice – which is not necessarily accepted – on the affects on the disabled community of proposals such as traffic changes and rail infrastructure changes.

All projects, both public and private, must include the needs of the disabled community as part of the design stage – not as a “bolt on” extra.

The group meets monthly and has discussed issues such as pedestrianisation, disabled parking and wheelchair access to the the town centre.

The group has raised concerns about dropped kerbs, light controlled road crossings, transport issues and easy access to polling stations for the disabled.

We are always looking for volunteers and funds to help us continue the fight to make all publicly used community facilities fully inclusive for all.
