Taff Ely Parent Forum is a group of Parents, Carers and Guardians of people with a Learning Disability. Our role is twofold.  Firstly we are there to offer information and support to others in similar circumstances and, when required, to act as representatives and advocates on their behalf.

 

Secondly we work together with other Parent Forum groups throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff to support, monitor and evaluate services, provided by the Local Authority, for people with Learning Disabilities.

 

Taff Ely Parent Forum meets monthly and all parents, carers and guardians of people with a learning disability are welcome to attend.  Minutes are taken at all meetings and you can ask for copies to be sent to you if you cannot attend.

 

There are three parent groups in RCT, one in the Rhondda, one in Cynon Valley and our own group here in Taff Ely.

 

Taff Ely Forum is fully involved in the planning, monitoring and evaluation of services.  We are included in all the meetings which are organised by variouse departments of Care Services within RCT.  There is olso a representative at these meetings who has a Learning Disability.
