Springfield Shetetred Housing Complex

Springfield Shetered Housing Complex

Springfield Shetered Housing Complex is based in Ynyshir and offers accommodation within complexes especially designed with the needs of older people in mind aiming to provide a safe environment where people can make friends and enjoy a range of social activities.

Each complex has a Scheme Manager who works Monday to Friday and a Mobile Scheme Manager makes a visit to each complex on the weekend to ensure everyone is safe and well. The role of the Scheme Manager covers distinct areas such as:

  • Management and security of the complex.
  • Supporting residents to maintain their independence.
  • Carrying out a daily visit to residents
  • Facilitating a range of social activities within the complex for tenants and older people living in the community.

When the Scheme Manager is not on duty, the complexes are linked to the Council’s Community Alarm Centre. The Centre holds the details of all residents to enable them to respond to any emergency situation that may occur. For your additional safety there are a range of sensors available that can monitor many of the day-to-day hazards in your home such as fire, flood etc.

Accommodation varies throughout the Complexes. There are studios, one and two bedroom flats and bungalows.

All dwellings have their own kitchen and toilets, although in some complexes there are communal bathrooms.

Tenants have their own front door keys and the Scheme Manager holds a master key for any emergencies.

The facilities below are available in most complexes.

  • A communal lounge for residents to take part in social activities or simply a place to meet.
  • Guest bedrooms, for which there is a small charge.
  • A communal laundry facility comprising of washing and drying facilities, which are for the use of the residents only.
  • Communal gardens, which residents can help tend and enjoy.
  • Door entry systems for access.
  • Intercom system in each property and throughout the communal areas
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Passenger lifts or stair lifts.
  • Communal heating systems, although some schemes do have individual heating systems in each property.
