Action Teams come to an end in Jobcentre Plus South Wales Valleys District
Bernadette Jones, the acting District Manager for Jobcentre Plus South Wales Valleys, explains what's happening to Action Teams.
'A decision has been taken by the Minister that all Action Team activity will cease at the end of September 2006.
The Department for Work and Pensions is working with Jobcentre Plus to develop a future deprived area strategy that aims to ensure that all area-based initiatives are more effectively targeted at people and places with the greatest need. This has involved a review of our programmes and services to ensure they provide good value for money and continue to meet our needs.
Our future strategy will provide more flexibility to local areas regarding the types of provision and support needed to enable local workless people to move into employment or close to the labour market and we will ensure that we build on evidence from Action Teams and other programmes when considering future policy development.'

Bydd ein strategaeth yn y dyfodol yn darparu mwy o hyblygrwydd i ardaloedd lleol ynglyn â’r math o ddarpariaeth a’r cymorth sydd ei angen i alluogi pobl heb waith i symud i mewn i waith neu’n agos i’r farchnad lafur a byddwn yn sicrhau ein bod yn adeiladu ar dystiolaeth gan Dimau Gweithredu a rhaglenni eraill wrth ystyried datblygu polisïau yn y dyfodol.'
