what we are about

Taff-Ely Turtles is a voluntary organisation established in 1982.To provide opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in swimming and other activities in the water and enable people with disabilities, their families and other people who care and support them to meet for a wider social contact.
The club is a member of the
Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy, which is a registered charity with affiliated groups throughout the United Kingdom.
All the activities of the Turtles are run by volunteers, the Turtles receive no statutory grant and rely heavily upon their own fundraising efforts. People with disabilities of all ages and all levels of proficiency in the water have an opportunity to enjoy the swimming pool, with support or guidance from volunteers wherever possible.
The Turtles meet on a weekly basis every Sunday afternoon at the
Hawthorn School Swimming Pool,Pontypridd, between 2.00 and 4.00pm (pool use 2.00 till 3.30pm). The pool has wheelchair accessibility, poolside hoist, shower chairs and a specially extended set of steps for the more mobile.
