Substance Misuse Incidents

RCT Guidelines for Substance Misuse gives further details on what to do in the event of a substance misuse incident and how to record it.
 
Categories of incidents may include:
 
DRUG RELATED LITTER

Any drug related litter found on or near premises. This could include; bottles or cans or smoking related equipment e.g. bongs or pipes, needles or syringes, or burnt foil.
 
POSSESSION

Evidence that a young person is in possession of substances (legal or illegal) whilst on premises, on an organised trip, or on transport.
 
SUPPLY

Evidence that a young person has passed on illegal drugs to another person on or near premises, on an organised trip, or on transport
 
UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Evidence that a young person is under the influence of substances (legal or illegal). Evidence of a sudden or marked change in behaviour, mood or cognitive processes that cannot be explained as a result of other influences e.g. illness, bullying, problems at home etc.
 
INCIDENTS INVOLVING NON-PUPILS

Evidence that an individual who is not a member of the organisation (e.g. parents, ex-members, visiting young people, general public) is in possession, is supplying or is under the influence of substances, on or near premises, on an organised trip or on transport.
