Family Awareness and Drug Support (F.A.D.S) was launched in June 2002. It was set up by a group of parents living in the Penywaun area of the Cynon Valley. The original members of F.A.D.S were parents who were either concerned about substance misuse or who were directly affected by their own children’s misuse.

 

Parents were able to meet and discuss with other parents their concerns and offer both invaluable advice and support. Talking with someone else experiencing similar problems was found to be of benefit to all concerned.

 

The parents soon found themselves providing support to other families from other local communities and as a result F.A.D.S was established.
