Cannabis to be raised to Class B Drug
Cannabis will be raised to a class B drug with a maximum 5 year jail term for users, the government said on Wednesday (7 May 2007).
RAID has welcomed this news, they have for a long time campaigned for the reclassification of cannabis.

1. To raise the profile and highlight the dangers of all illegal substances.
2. To provide advice and information on illegal substances to the general community
3. To speak out against what RAID believes is an increasingly liberal attitude towards illegal drugs, including the de-criminalization / legalization of cannabis.
4. To support and initiate anti-drug activity within the Rhondda which RAID believes is effective.

R.A.I.D. was established in November 1995, in response to local public demand.
The Rhondda was once a thriving mining community, now it is regarded as an area of social & economic deprivation.
With poor prospects, often low self-esteem and increasing peer pressure many young people in the Rhondda are turning to drugs.
We at R.A.I.D. believe that we need to educate our young children against the drug culture.
