This page is about the Therapy INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian Head Massage is a Complementary Treatment that can be used in conjunction with Medical Treatments.

It is a Holistic Therapy that treats the person as a whole.

Indian Head Massage (also known as Champissage) is Indian in origin and dates back many thousands of years.

The therapy involves using a range of massage techniques and pressures to manipulate the soft tissues of not just the head, but also the upper back and arms, shoulders, neck area, scalp and face.

Indian Head Massage Therapists DO NOT diagnose and your Medical care remains the responsibility of your Medical Practitioner.

Your Treatment

At your first visit, a detailed history is taken of your lifestyle/medical problems.

This ensures that treatment is appropriate for you and carried out safely.

A treatment is given while you are comfortably seated in a chair.

You will be asked to remove your coat/jewellery to neck and ears and glasses if you wear them.

Your Therapist will stand behind you for most of the treatment and, using a variety of techniques and pressures, massage your upper back and arms, shoulders, neck area, scalp and face.

Oils are sometimes massaged into the scalp for additional therapeutic use, this will be discussed with you in your initial history consultation.

Indian Head Massage is a very relaxing treatment and you may feel very sleepy, emotional, hot or cold or “see” colours in your minds eye during and just after treatment.

This is due to the effects of stimulating the energy throughout the body and all, some or none of the above are a perfectly normal response.

After your Treatment

After your treatment, it is important you follow this advice :

Rest and relax whenever possible

Drink plenty of fluids

Have light meals/snacks

Avoid alcohol/smoking for 24hrs

Your Therapist may also give you individual advice regarding hair care/use of therapeutic oils.

The above advice is to ensure you get the best on going benefits from your treatment.

How many Treatment Sessions?

This will be discussed with you at your initial consultation, usually four weekly treatments will be recommended initially and reviewed as Therapy progresses.
