questions

This page will answer some FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Q. What does complementary mean?

A. Complementary simply means that the treatment/therapy can be used along side other forms of treatment/healthcare e.g. you wouldn’t need to stop tablets to have a complementary treatment - it would “compliment” your existing care.

Q. What does holistic mean?

A. Holistic means “whole”, so a holistic treatment would treat the whole person physically/emotionally/spiritually, not just work on treating the disease, illness or injury.

Q. Do I have to have my Doctor’s permission to have a treatment?

A. Your Doctor remains responsible for your medical care at all times, and it is always a good idea to discuss any changes with him/her. Before any treatment a thorough history of your health/medical problems is taken to make sure the treatment you have chosen is suitable for you and in some cases it may be necessary to have your Doctor’s consent. In most cases this is not needed and, while we would encourage you to tell your Doctor, it is not essential.

Q. Are my details kept private?

A. Absolutely. The information you give your therapist is private and confidential and kept securely. Sometimes it will be necessary to share this information with other healthcare professionals, but this will always be discussed with you first and you are entitled to see any records kept about you.

Q. Can children have treatments?

A. Children respond very well to holistic and complementary therapies. The parent/guardian of a chid under 17 needs to be present and sign their consent for treatment. It is always advisable to inform your Doctor of any treatment your child receives.

Q. Can animals benefit from healing therapies?

A. Certain therapies would not be suitable, but again, as with children animals respond very well to healing energies such as Reiki/Crystal Healing. The legal owner of the animal needs to give written consent to treatment and your Vet remains responsible for their care at all times. An animal with a health problem must be seen by their vet as therapy is not a replacement for medical care.
