2008 Season
The 2008 season started well on 21st April for the Monday afternoon 2 rink league.  Gelligaled on home ground, fielding 2 new bowlers (Erik Eckberg and Richard Mitchinson), made an impressive start winning comfortably on both rinks against the Ystradyfodwg visitors.

A friendly fixture against St Mellons Bowling Club played at Gelligaled on Saturday 26th April resulted in the home team winning on 3 of the 4 rinks. With all friendly matches the score was not as important as the fellowship enjoyed by all who took part on a glorious Spring afternoon.

Cynon Valley Div 1 Match  Tues 6th May
Gelligaled were in fine form at home winning on three rinks and taking 12 points against visitors Trelewis Bowls Club.
Final scores Gelligaled 87   Trelewis  60.

The third and final match in the section was played at Gelligaled Park on Saturday 17th May when visitors Harlequins BC were narrowly defeated by 5 shots.  An extremely close game with never more than 8 shots separating the teams. After 18 ends Harlequins were leading by 8 shots but Gelligaled pulled back over the last three ends to win by 5 shots.
Final scores  Gelligaled 79  Harlequins 74
With Gelligaled and Harlequins each having 4 points, the winner of the section is Harlequins who have a greater shots difference than Gelligaled and will therefore play in the first round of the open competition on 21st June.  Best wishes to them.
