THE REEL THAT NEVER ENDED
It took place during "Celtitude"
One hot September day,
The team assembled loyally
To dance in Cardiff Bay.
Then from Millennium Centre
To the Mermaid Quay we wended,
To perform what was to be
"The Reel That Never Ended".
Musicians all set up their stands
And played a jolly jig,
People stopped, and cameras clicked,
The crowd was getting big.
We set up for "Llanofer"
Without a moment lost,
Though Ariadna, Pat and I
Were pestered by a wasp.
The dance was going swimmingly,
The lines were simply grand,
And we looked oh so splendid,
Accompanied by our band.
From Jigging on to Bridges,
Then Arming - and quite soon
We arrived then at the final part
Which is known as "Round The Room".
But then, from out the café
Strides a haughty little man,
"Stop this dance immediately,
The entertainment's banned!"
Why, everyone stands stupefied,
With shouts from all the crowd
Of "Boo!" and "Shame!" This bullying
Should never be allowed!
Despite Mel's protestations,
The man remained unmoved,
What bureaucratic nonsense,
Was all that this act proved.
Therefore, we had to finish,
And that is why my friend
The Ancient "Reel of Llanofer"
Was left without an end.
And so, whene'er we reach the part
Where "Round The Room" takes place,
The memories come flooding back,
The thoughts creep on apace.
It may be at a Festival,
Or in many Twmps attended,
I shall always be reminded
Of "The Reel That Never Ended!"
