Glyncornel Angling Association is home to one of the finest trout fisheries in the whole of South Wales. The association has three separate facilities that offers a wide range of fishing for all ages. The first being Glyncornel Lake which is situated in the heart of RCT, at Tonypandy, and has a fly fishing only policy. In addition to Glyncornel Lake, Glyncornel A.A. also has a ten mile stretch of the River Rhondda, which offers all types of fishing, as well as Darran Park Lake in Ferndale which is undoubtedly one of the finest course fisheries in South Wales.
Glyncornel Lake info:
Stocked regularly with both brown trout and rainbow trout, the lake has more to offer than your average catch and release small water.
The lake is open to fly fishing only, and is open from the 20th of March, to the 15th of October 2006.
Members are entitled to fish a maximum of three times a week, and have a bag limit of two fish per day (rainbow trout only). Any brown trout caught is strictly on a catch and release basis.
Glyncornel Lake is regularly stocked with trout to 14 lb through the season.
Fishery record: 18lb 4oz rainbow trout.
The lake is also home to a huge variety of quality course fish including, Carp, Bream, Rudd, Roach, Perch, and Common eels.
Membership fees:
There are only season permits available for Glyncornel Lake (no day tickets). Prices are £115 for adults, and £65 for juniors.
Season permits for Glyncornel lake include fishing at our exclusive 10 mile stretch of the River Rhondda (from Treorchy to Trehafod), where brown trout are also stocked regularly, and also course fishing at the Darran Park Lake, Ferndale.
There are competitions held at Glyncornel Lake on the first Saturday of each month through the fishing season. Members wishing to enter should contact the chairman at least five days before to ensure their entry, as places are limited.

Darran Park Lake is home to possibly one of the best course fisheries in the whole of South Wales. Situated at the foot of a mountain in the picturesque valley of Ferndale, Darran Park Lake has a huge variety of fish to challenge anglers, both young and old.
There are various species of course fish present in the lake (many possibly over Welsh record): Carp (many 20 - 30lb+), Bream, Chub, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Pike.
Fishing is permitted 7 days a week, but people should be reminded that fishing is only permitted during the hours of which the park is open.
Season starts: 1st March 2006.
Ends: February the 11th 2007.
(Season runs for 50 weeks).
Prices: £25.00 full season (adult), and £16.00 full season (junior).
Day permits are also available at £5.00.
Fishing permits must be purchased prior to fishing, and are available from: Spar Grocery Store (High Street, Ferndale), Howells Newsagents (Pontypridd Road, Porth), Army Surplus & Guns (Dunraven Street, Tonypandy), and Fishing World Ltd. (Tonyrefail).
Please note that permits are not available for sale at the lake. People caught fishing at the lake without a valid licence will be prosecuted.
Competitions: Monthly competitions will be held at the lake for those wishing to enter, although this is dependant on the number of entries.

Glyncornel A.A. own the rights to over 10 miles of the River Rhondda, where brown trout are stocked regularly though out the fishing season. Members have reported the presence of Grayling this year, which have provided some excellent sport. Next years season starts on March the 3rd and ends on September the 30th 2006.
Fishing is permitted on both banks from The Stag Hotel in Treorchy, to Barry Sidings Park in Trehafod. This also includes the stretch of river from the top of the Bwlch Mountain (adjacent to Cwmparc), to The Stag Hotel in Treorchy. This entitles the permit holder to over 10 miles of river to fish in.
This is the only fishing permit available that entitles any person to fish the River Rhondda on the above mentioned stretches.
The river is open to all types of fishing (with the exception of maggots, which is not permitted).
Bag limit: 3 fish per day, 7 days a week.
Prices: £25.00 full season (adult), and £16.00 full season (junior).
