About Us

The Rhondda (Cold Knap) Lifeguard Club, is a not-for-profit volunteer registered charity (Charity Number 1054305) founded in 1962.

The Club is affiliated to both the Royal Life Saving Socity and the Surf Life Saving Association of Wales and was originally started by people from the outdoor swimming pools in the Rhondda.

Members from the Rhondda, still help run the Club, but since 1967 the Club have also had a base at Cold Knap Point, Barry.

During the summer months, members train on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, at Cold Knap and during the winter months, use the swimmining pool at Porth Community comprehensive Pool.  Also during the summer months, members provide a voluntary lifeguard service to the community and users  of the beach at Cold Knap.

The Club is always looking for new members, so please contact us if you are interested.
