Free Concessionary Fares Scheme

The Welsh Assembly Government Community Transport Concessionary Fares Initiative for Rhondda and Taf Ely is a 2 year project which will provide free transport for people who, because of their disability, are unable to use public transport.

With 3 wheelchair accessible vehicles TraVol will cover the Rhondda Fach, Rhondda Fawr and Taf Ely with a door-to-door, demand responsive service that will enable people with disabilities within those areas to make social, hospital or work related journeys; visit relatives, access town centres or shop for groceries.

To qualify for the free concessionary fares initiative you must fall within one of the following categories;

  • Be a wheelchair user
  • Have a significant disability and communication difficulty
  • Have a combination of severe visual and hearing loss preventing independent mobility
  • Have challenging behaviour and have to be supervised at all times
  • Have no awareness of risk

To register for the free concessionary travel or to book your journey, telephone 01443 486872
