Shape-it.org is an exciting community programme based around a Community Web Portal which is hosted by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

Shape-it.org was initially funded until December 2006 by European Union Objective 1 and Rhondda Cynon Taf Local Regeneration Funds and brought £4.2m of investment into our region. It has now been mainstreamed into Rhondda Cynon Taf Councils IT department.  

The Shape-it.org team work closely with regeneration bodies to help, support and encourage community groups, organisationas and individuals to promote what they do via IT, aiming to encourage communication and collaboration between individuals and groups throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf in the form of local websites and an internet-based community TV channel.

It is one of the largest programmes of its type in the UK.

Shape-it.org will deliver real benefits to all who live, work or play in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. These benefits including:

  We will provide support, training and encouragement to enable you to participate in the programme and create content which reflects the interests of our communities. In addition, we may also be able to provide, free of charge for the duration of the programme, computers and Internet access subject to eligibility to a range of community and voluntary groups and organisations in order to meet our objective of improving access to ICT.
